About the event
Forest bathing (aka Forest Therapy) is a practice that supports health and wellness through guided immersion in nature. It promotes the well-being of both people and the land! It is inspired by Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of “Forest Bathing.” In Forest Bathing, people spend time in forested areas to enhance health, wellness, and happiness. Let's clear it up right away, no bathtubs are involved! :)
Experience nature like never before during this two-hour forest immersion walk. Forest Bathing (aka Forest Therapy) is gaining traction in the US and for good reason. No matter what you call it, research continues to uncover new and exciting evidence about how nature, and even more specifically, Forest Bathing, benefits us. We know that it reduces blood pressure, reduces cortisol (the stress hormone), boosts mood, improves sleep, and has the ability to calm us down and activate the parasympathetic nervous system.
During this experience, you will be offered invitations that ignite your senses and open doors for connection with yourself and the forest. It's a practice that will get you out of your head and into your body.
This is not a hike or exercise. It's more of a here and now versus "getting there" practice. We will be walking at a very slow, comfortable pace on terrain that is mostly flat on a mix of gravel and dirt.
Previous participants have said:
"I loved the opportunity to be able to unplug and give myself permission to be free from life."
"This experience was very relaxing"
"Take time for yourself! Slow down and enjoy nature. This experience was just what I needed."
"Thank you, Tiffany! I slept better than I have in weeks, and woke up with particularly graceful energy this morning!"
What will the walk be like? Plan on a balance of connection with others and solitude. After a brief introduction our first invitation will be done together. Following invitations will be done on your own, followed by connection, once again, with your fellow participants. Tea and one final sharing circle will round out the experience.
This event will take place on 70 acres of private property, known as Wilderland, in Arcadia, MO.
What to bring:
-Water to stay hydrated during the walk
